Job DutiesPosition performs preventative and corrective maintenance throughout a major correctional institution. Responsible for maintaining buildings and structures by performing preventive maintenance, repair, construction, and replacement of components. Maintains inventory through planning and purchasing and responds to work requests in a timely manner in a Total Maintenance System (TMS).
Supervises inmate workers in the installation, maintenance, and repair of the facility. May respond to emergency callbacks for service on a rotating basis. May assist in other areas of Building and Grounds department, including preventative maintenance, construction projects, equipment repair, electrical, welding, plumbing, electronics, or outside maintenance.
Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent. Basic knowledge of all aspects of carpentry, building construction, masonry, tools, blueprints, materials, and measurements. Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise the work of others. Demonstrated ability to estimate materials and cost. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
Additional ConsiderationsTraining, certification, or license in related trades. Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Additional experience in any of the following:
Electrical, Plumbing, Heating, ventilation and Air-Conditioning (HVAC), Vehicle or Equipment Repair, Locksmith, Painting and Electronics. Correctional experience. Considerable skills in the use of tools of the trade. Proven skill in the use of Microsoft Office Programs and Outlook or preventative maintenance programs.
