Job Overview

Amazon Web Services is seeking bright, motivated, hardworking individuals to fill Data Center Logistics positions. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in logistics with a focus on transportation, shipping, receiving and inventory control and warehousing. Candidates must possess a strong work ethic, attention to detail, the ability to multitask and operate in a very fast paced complex environment, meet deadlines, and a commitment to Operational Excellence.

Additionally offer strong customer support and the ability to remain flexible with frequent shifts in priorities.

The Logistics Specialist will process in‑stock components, receive and process inbound shipments, and coordinate and execute daily equipment deliveries to data centers across the region. They will also assist with ongoing requests to ensure that proper stock levels are maintained and distributed to all locations to support build and repair activities. Working with the Logistics Manager, they create plans to optimize the flow and delivery of parts through their lifecycle;

tracking inventory locations and movement. They work closely with Datacenter Operations Technicians to fulfill parts and equipment deliveries quickly and accurately and with Procurement teams to ensure that inbound equipment orders are complete and delivered to appropriate Data Center Locations.

They are responsible for accurate data entry and resolving questions from peer organizations. The Logistics Specialist will ensure that all information associated with deliveries such as inventory tracking and ticket updates are accurate to ensure equipment is ready for processing by end user.

The ideal Logistics Specialist will dive deep into inventory management and understand the tracking, control and accuracy surrounding the components. They will be involved in decision making around route planning, vehicle maintenance, load planning, loading and unloading equipment, ultimately helping deliver on high availability and low cost goals. They will also maintain up‑to‑date metrics dashboards and create reports for internal and external customers and management as required.

Logistics Specialists are expected to understand all aspects of transportation, shipping and receiving as well as inventory control, adhere to strict safety standards, maintain very high quality, and be willing and able to work on powered equipment (e.g. forklift or cherry picker). A valid driver’s license is required. This position requires that the candidate be a US citizen, possess an active Top Secret with SCI eligibility clearance, and after starting acquire and maintain a TS/SCI clearance with polygraph and meet other security requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive long distances for up to 10 hours
  • Receive parts, maintain inventory, and check‑out parts as needed to Data Center Technicians and Engineers
  • Load and unload shipments and transport parts, racks, and equipment between different locations, including localized driving of a variety of transportation vehicles
  • Attend company‑provided forklift operator training
  • Complete company‑provided training in driving box trucks up to 26’ in length
  • Handle sensitive/classified client materials
  • Work with and/or around moving mechanical parts
  • Occasionally work in an office environment
  • Work overtime as required
Physical Requirements
  • Lift loads of up to 39 pounds and carry them for short distances
  • Participate in group lifts of 40 pounds or more
  • Frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach
  • Regularly walk and use hands and fingers, and reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Coordinate body movements when using tools or equipment
  • Reach and stretch to position equipment while maintaining balance
  • Push or pull heavy objects into position
  • Work in a noisy environment
  • Stand, sit, and walk for prolonged periods of time
Basic Qualifications
  • 1+ years of logistics experience
  • 1+ years of material forecasting experience
  • Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret with SCI eligibility or above
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years of logistics experience
