Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineer

BR+A is seeking an experienced Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineer for our Los Angeles, CA office. This role will be responsible for designing Fire Protection and Plumbing systems for a variety of projects and for performing field verification and take-offs of existing systems for renovation projects, coordinating with other disciplines, overseeing deliverables to and from clients, and developing hydraulic calculations for systems.

• Experience designing Fire Protection and Plumbing systems for Healthcare, Higher Education, and Laboratory projects
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit
• Familiar with specification writing
• Good understanding of engineering concepts, design, and spatial requirements
• Able to think three‑dimensionally
• Thorough knowledge of CA plumbing code, model codes and NFPA
• Knowledge of Fire Protection systems including wet, dry and specialty systems
• Understand work planning and managing the design process to the available hours in the work plan
• Capable of meeting and working with clients, owners, and contractors
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Taking ownership of assignments, working both independently and as part of the project team
• A positive attitude, results‑driven and team‑oriented
• Able to manage time to meet deadlines

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology
• EIT license required
• PE and CPD licenses preferred
• 8‑10 years of relevant experience in designing Plumbing and Fire Protection for Healthcare, Higher Education, and Laboratory projects

Salary Range for 8‑10 years of experience: $110,000 – 135,000 annually.
