Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) BHU - Loan Forgiveness - Full Time, Days (Culver City)
The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) will provide comprehensive patient care to individuals with physical, behavioral and/or emotional conditions in an assigned psychiatry unit. Responsibilities include medication administration, monitoring patient well‑being, participation in rehabilitation and treatment programs, leading individual and group educational sessions, encouraging therapeutic activities and conducting effective patient/family teaching.
Responsibilities- Under RN supervision, provide care to patients in behavioral health and/or medical crisis, including assistance with personal hygiene, medication administration, specimen collection and maintaining a safe environment.
- Collaborate with the health care team to develop treatment plans and objectives; accurately document and evaluate patient care while ensuring infection control and HIPAA compliance.
- Observe patients’ physical condition and behavior, provide proactive interventions and therapeutic communication, and recognize adverse psychological reactions.
- Restrain violent, potentially violent, or suicidal patients using verbal and physical means as required, in accordance with policy.
- Conduct patient and family teaching in a timely manner, documenting education activities per established procedures.
Required Qualifications:
- Current Licensure as a Vocational Nurse in California.
- Graduate of an accredited school of vocational nursing.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification.
- Proficient reading, writing, and communication in English.
- Ability to work variable shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Maintain flexibility and composure in a constantly changing environment.
- De‑elevation certification upon hire; SAMA certification required upon recertification.
- Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card (Los Angeles City Employees only).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Recent behavioral health experience in an acute psychiatric setting.
- SAMA Certification upon hire.
- Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families.
Min. $32.15 | Max. $43.20 per hour.
Sign‑On Bonus EligibilityTo be eligible for the sign‑on bonus, applicants must have one or more years of experience. Current or former hospital employees may not be eligible. The bonus is paid in increments over 12 months to active, full‑time employees in good standing.
