The Cedars-Sinai Medical Care Foundation is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Urgent Care team.
As an Urgent Care NP or PA, you will provide high-quality, evidence-based care to patients presenting with a wide range of acute illnesses and minor injuries in a fast-paced ambulatory setting. You will evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients independently while collaborating with board-certified physicians and other members of the healthcare team to ensure exceptional patient outcomes. This role requires strong clinical judgment, efficiency, and excellent communication skills to care for patients of all ages and diverse backgrounds.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with acute illnesses, injuries, and urgent medical conditions.
- Obtain comprehensive medical histories and perform age-appropriate physical examinations.
- Order, interpret, and communicate diagnostic tests, including laboratory and imaging studies.
- Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans and prescribe medications as appropriate.
- Perform common urgent care procedures such as laceration repair, incision and drainage, splinting, wound care, foreign body removal, and other office-based procedures within scope of practice.
- Recognize patients requiring a higher level of care and facilitate appropriate transfer or referral to the Emergency Department or specialty services.
- Provide patient education regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, preventive care, and follow-up recommendations.
- Document patient encounters accurately and efficiently in the electronic medical record.
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, medical assistants, and ancillary staff to provide coordinated, patient-centered care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain clinical competency through continuing education.
- Current California NP or PA license required.
- Furnishing Number and DEA registration required.
- National certification required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
- Minimum one (1) year of NP or PA experience in an Urgent Care, Emergency Medicine, or Primary Care setting strongly preferred.
- Experience managing patients across the lifespan is preferred.
- Experience performing common urgent care procedures is highly desirable.
- Experience with Epic electronic medical record preferred.
- Practice in a collaborative, team-based environment alongside exceptional physicians and advanced practice providers.
