Do you want to revolutionize how film and television content is created? At Amazon, the Studio in the Cloud (SITC) Production Platform Engineering team builds and maintains the infrastructure that enables productions to perform Editorial, Dailies, Color, Conform, VFX, Sound, QC, Mastering, and Delivery entirely in AWS. We’re looking for a Systems Development Engineer who can bridge the gap between traditional media workflows and modern cloud infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities- Design and build new cloud‑native capabilities for VFX rendering and management, sound mixing, QC, mastering, delivery, and remote production workflows.
- Improve and scale existing Editorial, Dailies, Color, and Conform workflows supporting active productions.
- Translate complex post‑production workflows into infrastructure‑as‑code using Cloud Formation or CDK.
- Troubleshoot production‑impacting issues across the full stack—from network configurations to application‑level bugs—and deepen root‑cause analysis as needed.
- Design and implement solutions using AWS compute, storage, and networking services optimized for high‑throughput media workloads.
- Build secure infrastructure following AWS best practices for encryption (at‑rest and in‑transit), IAM policies, VPC design, and authentication mechanisms.
- Collaborate with Product Management and internal Production Technology teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Automate operational tasks and build self‑service tools that empower production teams.
- Define and set technical direction for how we support customer workflows.
- Mentor and support team members as needed.
The Production Platform Engineering team sits at the intersection of entertainment and technology. We support productions ranging from episodic series to feature films, ensuring creative teams have the tools and infrastructure they need to deliver world‑class content.
Basic Qualifications- Experience leading the design, automation, deployment, and support of large‑scale infrastructure.
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, or Rust.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and build processes.
- Experience in systems administration, network administration, AWS cloud application development, Dev Ops or site reliability engineering.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and debugging skills with effective communication abilities.
- Experience implementing AWS services.
- 3+ years of networking experience (DNS, DHCP, SSL, OSI Model, and TCP/IPv4).
- Experience working with customers, technical teams, and management to gather requirements, describe product features, and design solutions.
- Experience mentoring team members on best practices.
- Experience streamlining video post‑production workflows for high‑volume output.
- Experience with distributed systems at scale.
- Experience owning feature delivery and trade‑offs of a product.
- Experience in production and post‑production environments.
- Knowledge of Pro Tools or other audio or video editing software.
- Experience with version control systems and CI/CD pipeline implementation.
- Experience with problem solving and disruptive innovation, developing technology programs, and working across customer organizations.
