Assistant Director of Finance

Support the Director of Finance in overseeing Finance Department operations for Allegany County in Cumberland, MD.

• Assist the Director of Finance with Finance Department operations and supervision of office staff
• Maintain the County’s general ledger system, including the related software, to ensure accurate recording of accounting transactions per established policies and procedures
• Coordinate with external auditors during audits of the County’s financial records
• Provide financial analysis and support to the Director of Finance, Deputy Director of Finance, outside agencies, other County personnel, and elected officials

• Expertise and training in governmental accounting
• Thorough knowledge of finance principles and methods
• Skill in supervising fiscal operations in governmental finance
• Ability to manage, coordinate, and work effectively with others
• Ability to provide clear oral and written reports
• Certified Public Accountant Certificate
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or finance
• Working knowledge of data processing and computer applications
• Tyler Munis ERP software experience preferred
