The Sheppard Pratt School in Cumberland is a nonpublic special education day school dedicated to providing year-round educational, vocational, and daily living services to students in grades K-12. Our focus lies in supporting students with emotional disabilities and autism, empowering them to succeed academically and beyond. What to expect.
You will assess students’ vocational interests and prepare them for post-graduation based on an understanding of their developmental needs.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Preparing the transition component of the individualized education plan (IEP) for students in the program.
- Serving as a resource for students and their families/caregivers regarding post-secondary planning, including scholarship and financial aid applications, and connecting them with relevant agencies.
- Assisting in tracking and managing student service-learning hours and Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) graduation requirements as appropriate.

The pay range for this position is $47,175.65 minimum – $91,052 maximum. Pay for this position is determined on a number of factors, including but not limited to, years and level of related experience.
What we need from you.- One of the following combinations of education and experience:
- Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, or a related field and experience working with behaviorally challenged adolescents.
- Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience.
- MSDE Initial Professional License (IPL) is preferred.
