Outbound Material Handler; Order Picker

Job Summary

We are currently seeking Short-Term Outbound Material Handlers (6 months) for our 3rd shift at the distribution center in Cumberland, MD. This temporary assignment may extend based on business needs and performance review. $3.00/hour bonus is awarded at the end of the contract for full completion.

• Retrieve items from racking accurately and efficiently using handheld scanning devices and the ERP system; may be on foot or using forklift equipment.
• Sort and consolidate picked items utilizing handheld scanning devices, preparing customer orders for shipment processing.
• Pack products accurately and securely using the internal SPS system, focusing on an excellent customer experience.
• Operate warehouse equipment—including forklifts, pallet jacks, scanners, and computers—following all established protocols and promoting safe working standards.
• Meet all expected performance standards regarding efficiency, accuracy, and quality of work.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by following safety guidelines and reporting hazards.
• Work closely with team members and leadership to meet daily, weekly, and monthly departmental goals.
• Abide by all company and warehouse policies.
• Flex into other positions and departments and undertake additional duties as necessary to support the overall operation.

• Work involves standing and/or walking, up to 12 hours/day.
• Requires effective communication through speech, vision, and hearing.
• Requires regular use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
• Requires regular bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching.
• Requires ability to regularly lift, carry, push, or pull medium weights, up to 75 lbs.

• 1+ year of relevant experience in a distribution environment preferred but not required.

This role does not require a degree. Relevant skills and experience and alignment with our core values are paramount.

• Ability to operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts and order pickers.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
• Ability to adapt quickly as business needs change, addressing difficult situations with diplomacy and emotional intelligence.
• Customer service-oriented attitude with a desire to exceed expectations.
