ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK:

• Attends circulationdesk: checks in, checks out, renews books and other library materials; inspects material for damage and assessescharges; answers telephone and refers calls; registers newpatrons, reserves books and museum passes.
• Assistspatrons in use of on-line computer catalogs; helps to locatematerials; explains library rules and regulations.
• Operates computers and computer equipment: enters data,modifies records, deletes outdated information, accessesfiles in the daily exercise of duties.
• Providesreader’s advisory and basic ready referenceassistance. Offers Inter-library Loan services when appropriate.
• Files forms and other records according to established library procedure.
• Runs dailycirculation reports including expired holds notices and newholds lists.

HOURS AND PAY:

• The position is 19.5 hour per weekwith a rotating weekend schedule and two evenings per week required.
• At least one Sunday per month (October toMay) is also required (in addition to that week’s 19.5hours) and paid at a premium rate.
• Starting pay is $18.16 per hour.
• Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND

SKILLS:

• Ability to communicate effectively and deal courteously with thepublic.
• Ability to prioritize and to juggle multiple tasks at the same time.
• Computer experience required.
• Customer service experience preferred.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

Minimum of a High School diploma required. College courses or degree preferred.
