Freelance Animator - Short Film

This role is ideal for a video and animation production expert passionate about storytelling and visual media. You will collaborate closely with a screenwriter and author to advise on the production of a 20-page romance/drama short script, with the goal of transforming it into either an animated piece or a live-action short film. The project is based in Cumberland, United States, and requires onsite involvement throughout the production process.

Your expertise will be instrumental in shaping the creative direction, technical approach, and overall execution of the project, ensuring the script is brought to life in a compelling and professional manner.

• Consult on the best production approach for adapting a 20-page romance/drama script into animation or live-action
• Advise on pre-production planning, including storyboarding, shot lists, and visual style
• Provide guidance on assembling a production team and sourcing necessary equipment
• Recommend animation techniques, software, or live-action workflows suitable for the project’s scope and budget
• Support the development of a production timeline and budget estimate
• Offer creative input on visual storytelling, pacing, and scene transitions
• Ensure all production activities align with the script’s tone and narrative goals
• Participate in onsite meetings and production activities in Cumberland, United States

• Proven experience in video production, animation, or film consulting
• Strong understanding of both animation and live-action production processes
• Ability to translate scripts into effective visual storytelling
• Familiarity with industry-standard animation and video editing software (e.g., Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, Toon Boom, or similar)
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Creative problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
• Ability to work onsite in Cumberland, United States for the duration of the project
• Experience with romance/drama genres is a plus
