Job DescriptionA secondary special educator is sought to teach at Cumberland High School. Candidate should possess skills and experience in co‑teaching, case management, behavior management and intervention techniques. The candidate must be skilled in the use of Functional Behavioral Assessment and Behavior Intervention Plans as well as IEP writing. Candidate must demonstrate the ability to be part of a multi‑member educational team and demonstrate outstanding communication and organizational skills.
Must be certified in Rhode Island as a Secondary Special Educator.

Job Requirements- Must be certified in Rhode Island as a Middle/Secondary Special Education Teacher grades 7-12.
- Provides specialized and individualized instruction for students with disabilities consistent with state education requirements and the students' IEP.
- Develops and implements Individual Education Programs (IEPs) in accordance with the IDEA.
- Familiarity with Common Core Standards and the RI Proficiency Based Graduation Requirements (PBGR).
- Communicates effectively within the educational community and with parents on a regular basis.
- Participate in the development and annual review of IEPs. Monitor the implementation, and provides information about progress regarding goals and objectives, communicating closely with members of the IEP Team.
- Experience and knowledge with transition planning requirements for secondary students under IDEA.
- Confers frequently with parents and professional staff members regarding the educational, social, and adjustment progress of the students.
- Consults with professional staff in resolving the unique educational and social emotional needs of students.
- Maintains accurate student special education records for state reports.
- Communicates with outside agencies which are providing services to students.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Special Education Director or Building Principal.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
