As the site-based instructional leader, the Building Administrator coordinates instructional programs, as well as support services and monitors their effectiveness on an ongoing basis. The Building Administrator establishes and maintains strong relationships with teachers, support personnel, students, parents, and members of the local community to maximize the learning potential of each student. A rigorous background in research-based instructional and socio-emotional methodologies is expected.
Specific knowledge about supporting culturally and linguistically diverse students is essential.
From an administrative perspective the Building Administrator supervises teachers, other service providers, and support staff. Other administrative responsibilities include, but are not limited to, site-based budgeting to support teaching and learning; taking an active role in district-wide innovation and improvement initiatives; ensuring the implementation of federal, state, and School Committee policies, regulations, and laws; and taking a leading role on RtI teams, PBIS/Target teams, and meetings to support students with disabilities.

Job Requirements- Fulfills all responsibilities associated with building-based instructional leadership
- Assists with the development of curricula and monitors their implementation
- Oversees and facilitates the implementation of programs and supports
- Facilitates data-driven decision processes
- Leads curriculum and faculty/staff meetings
- Supports and organizes professional development initiatives and activities
- Oversees specialized building-based programs to meet the needs of for example students with disabilities and English Language Learners
- Participates in all student support meetings
- Functions as the building-based Section 504 coordinator
- Monitors and supports all staff on an ongoing basis and performs formative and summative evaluations according to district and state requirements
- Coordinates all testing as required by local, state, and federal agencies
- Assumes responsibility for all daily building operations including but not limited to playground and lunchroom supervision as well as arrival and dismissal activities including before and after school programs and supports
- Assumes responsibility for supervision and discipline of students
- Monitors student and staff attendance
- Oversees building-based daily record keeping
- Develops budgets supporting teaching and learning and monitors expenditures on an ongoing basis
- Collaborates with medical and safety personnel to ensure the health and safety of students and staff
- Monitors the school lunch program
- Monitors student transportation
- Monitors volunteers
- Schedules fire drills following all applicable protocols and requirements
- Initiates and maintains solid relationships with parents, parent organizations, community members, and community organizations
- Schedules School Improvement Team and related meetings
- Organizes and coordinates public relations activities to promote the school
- Participates in relevant professional organizations
- Collaborates with other administrators and other personnel and stakeholders in coordinating district-wide initiatives related to academic standards, instructional programs, curricula, etc.
- Immediately reports any issue affecting safety and aesthetic conditions in the building to central office
- Ensures adherence to all applicable laws, policies and regulations
- Fulfills any other responsibilities assigned by the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee
- At least 5 year(s) of relevant experience preferred
- Master degree preferred
