Job DescriptionMLL Teacher
Must have appropriate RI teacher certification or be eligible to obtain that certification:
All Grades English to Speakers of Other Languages, Grades PK-12
- Valid Rhode Island Certification as an MLL Educator.
- Three years of successful classroom teaching.
- Understanding of second language acquisition.
- Knowledge of current trends in instructional strategies, curriculum development and evaluation techniques for MLL students.
- Knowledge of Chapter 16-54 and other regulations pertaining to the education of students with limited English proficiency.
- Must be computer literate.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

Job Requirements- Must have appropriate RI teacher certification or be eligible to obtain that certification:
All Grades English to Speakers of Other Languages Teacher, Grades PK-12 - Identify, assess, and monitor students eligible for MLL services.
- Assists in the testing of language proficiency and academic achievement.
- Acts as a resource to parents of children in the MLL program to facilitate their involvement in the education of their children.
- Assists principals in developing an effective school-home liaison network.
- Serves as a resource to administrators, MLL teachers, classroom teachers and parents regarding the educational and effective needs of MLL students.
- Assists in representing the issues of students with language and cultural differences in school improvement/restructuring efforts.
- Maintains student records, including the student census.
- Schedules appropriate language assessments prior to special education referral.
- Assumes other duties and assignments that may be made from time to time by the Assistant Superintendent and/or building administrator.
- At least 3 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
- Bachelor degree preferred.
