Job Description

Applicant must have or be eligible for CTE Information Technology certificate preferred through the RI Department of Education.

As a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) teacher we hope that you feel excited about engaging students in hands‑on, design solutions oriented learning. You will be expected to plan and deliver instruction aligned with ISTE standards and best practices in STEM education. You will also collaborate with other professionals to strengthen their curriculum and will serve as a CTE teacher.

Responsible for providing instruction on areas such as the engineering design process, research and development, CAD, computer science, and development of soft skills.

Primary responsibilities
  • Deliver instruction on topics such as engineering design, research, computer aided drafting, basic electronics and computer science.
  • Improve students’ knowledge of engineering design process and entry‑level skills needed for postsecondary engineering goals.
  • Teach a variety of Engineering, CAD and Computer Science courses.
  • Deliver the skills and knowledge necessary for students to function as responsible citizens in the business world.
  • Keep records of grades, grade papers, and perform other administrative duties as needed.
  • Create projects designed to enhance lessons.
  • Read and stay abreast of current topics in STEM.
  • Create lesson plans.
  • Utilize various curriculum resources.
  • Integrate competencies, goals, and objectives into lesson plans.
  • Utilize curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served.
  • Develop professional relationships with other agencies and programs.
  • Work with program coordinators to ensure initiatives are being met - CTE Pathway development.

Job Requirements

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and deliver rich student‑centered learning experiences around Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.
  • Implement formative and summative assessments to track student progress; engage students in the assessment and tracking process.
  • Analyze data on student performance to effectively inform instruction.
  • Provide differentiated support including accommodations and modifications to ensure all students are able to meet and exceed standards.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development including peer observations.
  • Implement school‑wide positive behavioral systems to effectively manage the classroom.
  • Continually communicate with students’ families regarding performance and progress.
  • Collaborate with other teachers to integrate STEM into other content areas.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in, and passion for, teaching STEM at the secondary school level.
  • Expertise with the iterative design process.
  • Expert level of technology and the 21st century learning understanding and application.
  • Ability to design, develop, assess, and manage STEM learning experiences.
  • Skillful at using a variety of assessment methods and data to pinpoint students’ strengths and weaknesses and skillful at applying instructional practices to address diverse learning needs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, commitment to teamwork, and readiness to reflect and grow.
  • Exemplary organizational skills including ability to prioritize, complete tasks (such as grading) efficiently, keep grade‑book up to date, and document lessons, materials, and assessment.
