A premier Northeast litigation law firm is seeking a Workers’ Compensation Associate Attorney to join its Providence, Rhode Island office. This position is ideal for attorneys who want hands-on courtroom experience, the ability to manage their own caseload, and the support of a collegial team that values mentorship, professional development, and work-life balance.
Responsibilities- Represent insurance defense clients in workers’ compensation matters before the Rhode Island Workers’ Compensation Court.
- Appear independently at hearings, mediations, and depositions.
- Draft motions, pleadings, and legal memoranda.
- Review and analyze medical records, employment documents, and claim files to develop effective defense strategies.
- Communicate regularly with clients to provide case updates and strategic guidance.
- Manage all aspects of assigned cases while meeting filing deadlines and ethical standards.
- Collaborate with colleagues on complex claims and legal strategy as needed.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active Rhode Island Bar admission in good standing.
- 1–5 years of workers’ compensation experience.
- Strong courtroom presence and ability to handle hearings independently.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities in a litigation environment.
- Sound professional judgment and a client-focused mindset.
- Active courtroom exposure and independent case management.
