Position: Workers' Compensation Associate Attorney (Insurance Defense)

A premier Northeast litigation law firm is seeking a Workers’ Compensation Associate Attorney to join its Providence, Rhode Island office. This role is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who enjoys courtroom advocacy, thrives in a fast-paced litigation environment, and is looking to grow within a collaborative and highly respected firm.

Responsibilities
  • Represent insurance defense clients in workers’ compensation matters before the Rhode Island Workers’ Compensation Court.
  • Appear independently at hearings, mediations, and depositions.
  • Draft motions, pleadings, and legal memoranda.
  • Review and analyze medical records, employment documents, and claim files to develop effective defense strategies.
  • Communicate regularly with clients to provide case updates and strategic guidance.
  • Manage all aspects of assigned cases while meeting filing deadlines and ethical standards.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on complex claims and legal strategy as needed.
Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active Rhode Island Bar admission in good standing.
  • 1–5 years of workers’ compensation experience.
  • Strong courtroom presence and ability to handle hearings independently.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities in a litigation environment.
  • Sound professional judgment and a client-focused mindset.
