Crossing Guard

This position provides child pedestrian safety by facilitating safe passage of school children across high traffic streets and intersections.

The role requires serious commitment to be at the Crossing Guard post on each school day, before and after school hours. Training will be provided.

Current salary is $28.70 per hour. Shifts are generally 1/2 hour in the morning and a 1/2 hour in the afternoon.

• Assist in providing safe and orderly student crossing to and from school.
• Fulfill job requirements outdoors in all weather, including rain, fog, snow, sleet, cold, heat, humidity, and wind.
• Encourage safe behaviors by all pedestrians at the school crossing.
• Stand for long periods, escort pedestrians across streets, work outdoors in all weather conditions, read printed materials and license plates, and communicate verbally.
• Apply basic safety rules, safe driving rules and procedures, and techniques for communicating with children and adults.

• Stamina, mobility, vision, hearing, and speech to perform duties.
• Knowledge of basic safety rules and safe driving procedures.
