The State Director serves as the primary representative of the Rhode Island Society of CPAs (RISCPA) responsible for advancing the organization’s mission and implementing its strategic goals and objectives at the state level. The State Director strengthens local member engagement, advocacy, and workforce development while ensuring alignment with regional strategy and priorities.
Key ResponsibilitiesExecute RISCPA’s strategic goals and objectives at the state level.
Partner with leadership to identify priorities, resource needs, and emerging opportunities.
Track and report progress toward key performance indicators (KPIs) tied to the Society’s strategic plan.
- Promote state-level advocacy and relationship-building with policymakers, regulators, and business organizations.
- Coordinate with leaders within New England to advance legislative and regulatory priorities that matter in Rhode Island.
- Elevate awareness of the CPA profession and the Society’s impact among public officials and business leaders.
- Develop and implement strategies to grow membership and enhance member value.
- Maintain strong relationships with firms, companies, and individual members across the state.
- Identify opportunities to increase engagement through programming, communications, and volunteer leadership.
- Expand workforce development initiatives, including partnerships with high schools, colleges, and employers.
- Promote programs that build the CPA pipeline and align with the RISCPA’s regional talent strategy.
- Collaborate with academic partners and employers to address emerging skills and workforce trends
- Serve as the local voice and connection between members and regional organizations.
- Gather and share member insights, industry trends, and local market intelligence to inform strategic decision- making.
- Partner with the communications team to ensure consistent and impactful messaging.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, public policy, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 7–10 years of experience in association management, public affairs, or professional services.
- Strong understanding of the CPA profession, business environment, and state-level policy landscape.
- Proven ability to build and sustain high-impact relationships across diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
- Ability to think strategically, work collaboratively, and execute effectively in a regional organization.
