Basic QualificationsEducation/Training:
Graduate of an approved school of nursing; current Rhode Island license to practice as a registered nurse or a licensed practical nurse.
Skills:
Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics; interpersonal communication; knowledge of drug interactions, side effects, incompatibilities; decision-making; assessment; typing; auditory and visual; ability to sit, stand, lift, bend, reach, and push/pull items weighing 50 pounds or less.
Perform duties to provide quality nursing care to residents and coordinate total nursing care; implement procedures and programs; participate with the Director of Nursing, ADNS, Nursing Supervisor; ensure compliance with policies regulations; communicate and supervise personnel; provide reports; perform CNA duties when required.

- Is knowledgeable of resident rights and ensures an atmosphere that allows privacy, dignity, and well‑being.
- Cooperates and implements specific procedures for safety, universal precautions, fire/safety/disaster plans, risk management, security, equipment repair, and maintenance.
- Protects confidentiality of all data.
- Ensures quality assurance and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Promotes a non‑harassing work environment free from discrimination.
- Participates in teamwork, uses tactful communication, follows up with supervisors, and promotes positive public relations.
- Provides quality nursing care tasks such as assessment, medication administration, emergency response, documentation, and supervision of CNAs and CMTs.
- Documentation: report changes in condition, weight, PEG tube patency, diet changes, pressure ulcer status, and response to antibiotic therapy.
- Shift report: include resident condition changes, new admissions, appointments, bath/rehab instructions, splint applications, individualized instructions.
- Maintain accurate patient information on skin condition, diet, equipment, weight, side rail use, assistance required, and high‑risk skin breakdown.
- Assess residents for skin breakdown per Braden Scale and policy.
Perform supportive tasks that may be altered or redesigned depending on circumstances.
