Position: Concrete Operative (Contract)
Description
We’re looking for a Concrete Operative to assist in all aspects of concrete works including preparation, pouring and basic finishing, ensuring compliance with safety standards and project specifications.
What you will be doing

* Assist with site preparation, including cleaning work areas and setting up formwork.

* Help arrange reinforcement and ensure materials are ready for pouring.

* Check tools and equipment are in safe working order before use.

* Support mixing, pouring and spreading concrete under supervision.

* Operate basic hand tools (e.g. shovels, trowels, screeds) safely.

* Apply curing methods such as water or compounds as directed.

* Ensure concrete surfaces meet basic finish standards and project specifications.

* Report any defects or irregularities immediately to the Supervisors

* Follow all health & safety protocols, including correct PPE usage.

* Report hazards, defects and near misses promptly.

* Maintain a clean and organised work area to prevent accidents.

* Work closely with other operatives and trades to ensure smooth workflow.

* Take direction from supervisors and contribute to team productivity.
What you will bring

* Valid CSCS Card

* Experience in concrete works or general construction.
Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
Understanding of health & safety requirements.
Physically fit and able to work in outdoor conditions
Desirable

* NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Concrete Occupations.

* Experience with basic finishing techniques.

* First Aid certification.

* Familiarity with site tools and equipment.
