Property Accountant

Position Overview:
The Property Accountant is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance by managing journal entries, reconciliations, and budget support for a property portfolio. This role requires analytical skills, GAAP knowledge, and the ability to partner with property managers and auditors to deliver timely, high-quality reporting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Compile and analyze financial data for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.
  • Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Review and reconcile budgets, revenues, expenses, payroll entries, and invoices.
  • Perform bank reconciliations, wire transfers, and ensure timely mortgage payments and distributions.
  • Support property acquisitions, dispositions, closings, and funding transactions.
  • Partner with internal and external auditors, providing documentation and explanations.
  • Communicate with property managers to support pre-close and close activities.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and expenditure control.
  • Complete ad hoc reports and financial analyses as requested.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of relevant accounting experience with strong GAAP knowledge.
  • Proficiency in accounting and property management systems (Yardi, One Site, etc.).
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and database management.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management abilities.
  • Self-directed, motivated, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
