Position OverviewPosition Title:

Students in grades 6-12
Employment Status:
Full-Time (40+ hours per week)
The Youth Pastor is called by God to follow Christ in a life of discipleship, using their God-given leadership gifts, educational background, and life experiences to help lead the church toward fulfilling its Kingdom purposes with a primary focus on students in grades 6-12 and their families. This position serves as a vital ministry role dedicated to reaching, discipling, and developing students to know and grow like Christ through comprehensive programming, relational ministry, and biblical teaching.
SpiritualLeadership
- Develop and deliver engaging, biblically-sound teaching and preaching specifically tailored to middle and high school students
- Promote a church-wide vision of reaching and developing students to know and grow like Christ
- Lead students in authentic worship experiences both within youth programming and integrated church services
- Share the gospel with lost students on an ongoing basis and coordinate an overall evangelism strategy for youth ministry
- Provide pastoral care, spiritual guidance, and biblical counseling to students and their families
- Plan, organize, promote, and direct all Christian ministry and mission activities for students, including retreats, mission trips, camps, and special events
- Work with appropriate ministry teams to develop a comprehensive and cohesive annual calendar for student ministry
- Design, oversee, and evaluate curriculum for all youth programs, events, and classes to ensure biblical, properly sequenced, balanced and comprehensive content
- Coordinate weekly student ministry programming and activities
- Prepare, administer, and adhere to an approved annual budget for student ministry, coordinating with church staff, deacons, and finance committee
- Recruit, train, mentor, and lead volunteer staff and adult leaders to serve effectively in student ministry
- Develop and disciple both adult and student leadership teams
- Coordinate the training and mentoring of students who sense a call to ministry vocations
- Work collaboratively with ministerial staff and church leadership as an integral team member
- Network with other student ministry leaders in the community
- Develop and maintain relationships with Forsyth County Schools as a means for outreach and service
- As allowed by law, minister on primary and secondary school campuses within the sphere of influence of the church
- Create an environment where students see themselves as missionaries on their school campuses
- Attend student functions at schools and engage with the broader educational community
- Maintain excellent communication with parents through regular meetings, mailings, and involvement strategies
- Coordinate ministry events for parents that improve their parenting skills and support family discipleship
- Effectively utilize social media for event promotion and family communication
- Exemplify and teach respect for parents and authority figures, encouraging students to honor their parents
- Regularly report to the Senior Pastor regarding ministry plans, current issues, and goal achievement
- Coordinate space utilization for student ministry and make recommendations concerning facility needs
- Supervise, monitor, and maintain care of all facilities when used for ministry functions
- Maintain accurate records and prepare annual reports with ministry goals and action plans
- A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ with evidence of a growing personal relationship with Christ
- Agreement with the mission statement of Cumming Baptist Church and adherence to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000
- A definite calling to youth ministry with demonstrated passion for evangelism and discipleship
- Commitment to maintaining Christian character and lifestyle consistent with biblical principles
- Bachelor’s degree in theology, ministry, youth ministry, Christian education, or related field
- Master’s degree from an accredited theological seminary preferred
- Strong theological understanding and biblical knowledge with ability to apply Scripture to life
- Previous successful student ministry experience required
- Demonstrated competency in Bible teaching and speaking to students
- Strong leadership, organizational, and administrative skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to connect with diverse student populations
- Proficiency with computer technology and social media platforms
- Event planning and execution experience, including retreats, camps, and mission trips
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining strong work ethic
