Purpose
Within the Technip
FMC Core Technologies organization, reports to the Senior Manager
- Seal Technology in Houston, TX.
- Develop concept papers with clear value propositions, aligned design metrics, and stakeholder agreement using Lean product‑development principles.
- Create and communicate innovative, feasible, and value‑added sealing product designs.
- Define product attributes, requirements, and specifications based on the technology roadmap.
- Lead and manage the full product development process, delivering sealing solutions that meet sponsor expectations.
- Build and guide a value‑stream team, establishing an Obeya with visual management, cadence meetings, and open problem‑solving.
- Provide technical leadership, coaching, and cross‑functional collaboration while driving fast learning, experimentation, and prototyping.
- Make data‑driven engineering decisions that support business needs and ensure rapid detection and resolution of abnormal technical or commercial issues.
- Foster continuous improvement through Lean Transformation, promoting communication, breaking barriers, and escalating challenges to sponsors when needed.
- BS in Mechanical Engineering with 10+ years experience, or MS with 8+ years
, with deep expertise in metallic/non‑metallic seal design, materials, methods, and calculations. - Extensive knowledge of TFMC seal technologies
, competitor products, and API 6A/17D
, with strong understanding of manufacturing, assembly, qualification, and testing processes. - TCE Approver with advanced ability to interpret technical information, propose design/process improvements, and make independent, sound engineering decisions.
- Proficient in project‑management tools and able to manage deadlines, priorities, and complex technical tasks with minimal supervision.
- Strong business awareness, understanding cost, profit, and decision impact within assigned engineering scope.
- Highly skilled communicator (written, verbal, and listening) with ability to work cross‑functionally, lead teams, and articulate technical viewpoints clearly.
- Demonstrates accuracy, attention to detail, cultural awareness, and openness to feedback while maintaining strong teamwork and leadership capabilities.
- Advanced proficiency in spreadsheets, word processing, presentations, and comfortable working primarily in an office with occasional shop/lab exposure and some travel.
