PURPOSE
Presents knowledge and ability to impact accuracy and quality control on all levels of assignments.Provides service to cooperative by operating Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and related mapping systems and peripheral equipment to generate digital drawings and integrated circuit designs of the electrical distribution system consisting of voltage transformers, overhead or underground cables, and related electrical equipment used to conduct electrical energy from distribution lines to consumers by performing the following dutiesli>Demonstrates an awareness that the job exists to effectively serve every SEMC member, and at every opportunity to achieve increased member and public understanding for support SEMC.DEMANDS
Associate degree or technical school certificate in GIS or related mapping or associated field, with a minimum of two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; or equivalent experience as solely determined by the Corporation.REQUIREMENTS
Must have advanced computer skills with MS Windows based software packages (e.g., spreadsheets, word processing, databases), Internet, E-mail, ESRI GIS mapping and CAD.GIS certification or GIS experience.Ability to read and examine schematics and supporting documents received from other SEMC Departments, outside contractors, or developers.Ability to calculate, develop and lay-out dimensions, angles, curvature, relationship of one part to another, and relationship of various data to entire project, utilizing knowledge of computer databases electronics, engineering practices, mathematics, materials, and related physical sciences.Must process and maintain confidential material in circumspect manner.Continue expanding knowledge and capability within job and organization through the independent pursuit of self-study courses and outside course offerings.Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, and legal documents.Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.Ability to apply general mathematical concepts.Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.Valid Georgia driver’s licenseRegular and reliable attendance record.Flexible work hours as necessitated by circumstances, on-call functions, and irregular work shifts.Flexibility for irregular work hours, including evenings and weekends as necessitated by circumstances.Position requires that this individual report in time of natural disaster and weather-related emergency and recognizing that the Corporation (SEMC) is an electric utility.Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner is an essential job function.RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides technical assistance in database maintenance and map production for the GIS.Compiles source information and utilizes software and menus to perform edits to graphics, attributes, and annotation within GIS.Design and development of distribution system using the GIS.Daily maintenance and editing on mapping systems through such things as posting, conversions, upgrades.Aids in creating maps and special databases for GIS installation.Provides aid in converting existing special projects and drawings over to the GIS.Updates backlog of corrections and maintenance that occurs during the conversion over to the GIS.Review work orders, maps, blueprints, and specification materials to determine critical dimensions of design.AssiGIS and the operation and maintenance of all files and databases in the computer drafting and mapping systems relating to file accuracy, back up procedures, transferring of information from different software packages to and from the GIS, and implementing new software programs into the existing system.Collaborate with other SEMC departments, developers, and design staff to determine project requirements and design modifications as well as edit information within the GIS.Assists other…
