Strategic Project Engineering Manager

Location:

Salary: $115K – 145K plus bonus

Job Summary of the Strategic Project Engineering Manager:

In this position, you will collaborate closely with business collaborators and teams from multiple functions to comprehend automation requirements and transform them into inventive solutions. As an esteemed figure in project management with automation equipment expertise, this role tackles the most intricate obstacles, translating ambitious concepts into reality.

Duties & Responsibilities of the Strategic Project Engineering Manager:
  • Responsible for creating preliminary designs and engineering materials specifications, and also developing project cost estimates.
  • Conducting research, feasibility studies, and economic evaluations to ensure the design’s viability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Determining design criteria based on mandated standards and codes, validating field work, and generating as-built drawings to document the final result.
  • Reviewing and verifying engineering projects for accuracy and soundness, and overseeing project execution by providing guidance to vendors and contractors.
  • Coordinating project timelines with plant personnel, vendors, and contractors to ensure synchronization with management and engineering teams for successful plan implementation.
  • Coordinating and giving instructions to equipment vendors for layout planning, ensuring utility requirements are fulfilled, and adhering to installation schedules.
  • Reviewing consultants’ work products and providing recommendations for necessary adjustments.
  • Maintaining detailed documentation, including equipment manuals, mechanical and electrical drawings, parts lists, specifications, and vendor/service contact information, to ensure proper organization and accessibility of project details.
  • Conducting engineering planning, design, and operational evaluations during pre-project studies to validate feasibility and alignment with project objectives.
  • Defining the scope of work, preparing requests for proposals, and assessing received proposals to determine the best approach.
  • Submitting detailed reports to management within established deadlines to keep them informed about progress and key project advancements.
  • Handling contract administration, by reviewing bidding packages for compliance and completeness.
  • Preparing essential project documents, such as justifications, budget analyses, calculations, plans, and schedules, to guide project execution.
  • Monitoring installations to ensure adherence to proposal specifications and budgets, managing assigned budget activities to maintain financial control and accountability throughout the project lifecycle.
Education & Experience Requirements of Strategic Project Engineering Manager:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Engineering, or related field and 5+ years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
  • 2+ years' experience in a position of leadership to include team development and management, required.
  • Ability to apply sound engineering principles to operational and design issues.
  • Knowledge of installation and construction project scheduling.
  • Must possess Project Management skills;
    Contract Administration skills;
    National codes and standards interpretation skills.
  • Proficient in engineering economics.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel spreadsheet software and Word processing software, other Microsoft Office products.
  • Energized by collaboration through travel to other locations. (50% of the time).
  • Knowledge of engineering principles and techniques related to food processing and the meat industry.
  • Previous experience in the management of multi-million dollar projects with large scopes.
  • Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team-oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational planning, teamwork, analytical reasoning, and adaptability.
