The CAD Technician will be responsible for preparing, modifying, and maintaining technical drawings and design documents for civil construction and site development projects. The ideal candidate will have experience working with grading plans, utility layouts, stormwater systems, roadway improvements, and construction survey data while supporting project teams across multiple phases of development.
- Create and revise CAD drawings, plans, profiles, and construction documents
- Assist with preparation of site development, grading, drainage, utility, and roadway drawings
- Develop and modify earthwork and surface models from survey and engineering data
- Prepare exhibits, quantity takeoffs, and as-built drawings
- Coordinate with project managers, estimators, surveyors, superintendents, and engineers
- Organize and maintain project drawing files and document control procedures
- Review plans and specifications for completeness and accuracy
- Assist with machine control model preparation and construction layout support
- Incorporate design revisions and field changes into project drawings
- Support bidding, preconstruction, and operational teams with technical drafting needs
- Ensure drawings comply with company standards and client requirements
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and external consultants
- Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience in Drafting, CAD Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field
- 2+ years of CAD drafting experience in civil construction, land development, surveying, or engineering
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3
- Ability to read and interpret civil construction plans and specification
- Strong understanding of grading, drainage, utility, and site development plan
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skill
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience working with survey data and topographic surfaces
- Knowledge of machine control modeling platforms
- Experience with Bluebeam, Carlson, Trimble, Topcon, or similar software
- Understanding of earthwork calculations and quantity takeoffs
- Construction or field experience is a plus
