Septic Project Estimator and Bidding Specialist

Position Overview

If you know how to look at a set of civil plans, understand what it will really take to build the job, and put together a competitive estimate without giving away the margin, this could be a great next opportunity.

Hunter Crown is recruiting a Septic Project Estimator and Bidding Specialist for an established infrastructure services organization. This person will take an active role in identifying good projects, estimating the work, developing competitive bids, and helping the team decide which opportunities make sense to pursue.

This is more than a takeoff position. You will have a voice in pricing, project selection, profitability, and how awarded work is handed over to the operations team.

Professional Responsibility and Scope

You will own much of the estimating process from the initial project review through bid submission. That means reviewing civil plans, site drawings, soil information, specifications, and other project documents to understand what the work will require before putting numbers behind it.

You will develop material quantities and estimate labor, equipment, transportation, and other project costs while keeping a close eye on both competitiveness and profitability. You will also have the opportunity to visit project sites, evaluate real world conditions, and identify issues that may not be obvious from the plans.

An important part of the position is knowing which projects are worth pursuing. You will help identify upcoming opportunities and develop relationships with contractors, developers, engineers, and other professionals involved in the regional construction market.

When a project is won, you will work directly with project management and field operations to make sure the team understands the scope, pricing assumptions, and expected financial performance. After completion, you will have the opportunity to compare estimated costs with actual results and use those lessons to make the next estimate even stronger.

Location and Lifestyle Context

This position offers a nice balance between focused estimating work and getting out into the field. You will not spend every day behind a desk. Site visits are an important part of understanding access, terrain, existing infrastructure, logistics, and other factors that can make a significant difference in how a project should be priced.

The work is primarily regional, allowing you to stay connected to projects from the estimating stage through execution without the lifestyle associated with extensive national travel.

Long Term Professional Growth

For someone who enjoys estimating but wants more influence over the business, this position offers room to grow.

You will gain exposure to the full commercial side of the project cycle, including identifying opportunities, evaluating risk, developing pricing, winning work, supporting project execution, and reviewing final financial performance.

As you establish yourself, there is an opportunity to become a trusted resource in how the organization evaluates and pursues new work. That experience can create a natural path toward greater responsibility in estimating, preconstruction, commercial strategy, or project development.

Compensation

The anticipated base salary range is $70,000 to $110,000, depending on experience and qualifications, with approximately $20,000 to $30,000 in additional incentive compensation.

That puts expected total cash compensation at approximately $90,000 to $140,000.

The incentive component gives you the opportunity to participate financially in the results you help create. Additional benefits will be discussed during the recruiting process.

Team Environment and Leadership Approach

You will work closely with the people responsible for actually delivering the projects you estimate. That connection between estimating, project management, and field operations creates an environment where practical experience matters and good ideas can have a direct impact.

The organization is looking for someone who can bring both technical knowledge and sound judgment to the table. You will be trusted to ask questions, identify potential problems early, and provide thoughtful recommendations about pricing and project opportunities.

If you prefer having ownership of your work and being part of the conversation rather than simply receiving a stack of plans to price, this environment should be appealing.

Organizational Stability and Industry Position

The organization operates in an essential part of the infrastructure and environmental services market, supporting residential and commercial development through engineered underground and onsite infrastructure solutions.

The work is practical, necessary, and closely connected to ongoing construction and development activity. For the right estimator, this is an opportunity to join an established operation and have a visible impact on the quality and profitability of the projects the company takes on.
