The dual registered echo/vascular sonographer performs adult echocardiograms, stress echocardiograms, transesophageal echocardiograms, EKGs, Holter monitors and vascular ultrasounds while utilizing Doppler and color Doppler on the cardiac and/or vascular structures. The registered sonographer will be responsible for assisting with interventional procedures, drainages, etc. while using sterile technique under the direct supervision of the physician. Ultrasound procedures are performed frequently without immediate supervision, but in accordance to standards approved by the Medical Director.
The sonographer may be required to assist with other echo/vascular clinic procedures and even assist with patient related tasks, as assigned by management, during imaging downtime. The staff member will be required to maintain imaging areas, equipment, and inventory. Maintains open communication and accessibility to providers and other clinicians, as needed. Participates in patient education, positioning, and patient protocols, as warranted within clinic setting.
Sonographer may be required to rotate and/or assist through one of the SJC outpatient/inpatient centers as a part of their job duties and responsibilities. This position requires an on-call rotation with other department members.

Bachelors of Science - Preferred
Experience2-3 Years On the job work experience - Required
License & CertificationProfessional Certification - Required
ARDMS or CCI registration
Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required
Core Job Functions- Routine cleaning and maintenance of equipment is performed in accordance with manufacturer recommendation and department policy. Work orders involving equipment are entered promptly into the system. Staff education regarding care and operation of equipment is conducted annually and documented as needed.
- Maintains national certification/registry. Is competent in the use of all departmental equipment and is able to perform all procedures effectively.
- Organizes work area and maintains adequate supply of necessary stock and linens. Notifies supervisor of any equipment or supply needs that they cannot resolve.
- Meets or exceeds department TAT goals for testing. Enters charges as instructed for all tests performed. Maintains log of individual work completed.
- Charges exams accurately, anticipates supply needs and reports the information to the appropriate person.
