General Production Team Member

As a General Production team member at Smithfield Foods, you will perform essential production tasks to deliver safe, high‑quality food. Reliability, attention to detail and a strong work ethic help meet our standards for safety, quality, and teamwork.

General Production employees will work with hand tools, knives, machinery and other equipment to process meat products for the consumer. Positions may require good hand‑eye coordination, attention to detail, and the ability to work scheduled shifts, possibly including overtime.

• Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Perform continuous or repetitive movements, including grasping, pinching hands, flexing and extending arms.
• Stand on concrete and/or platforms for up to a 12‑hour shift.
• Work around animal blood and/or carcass parts.
• Use a knife (if trained).
• Work in cold (20‑40°F) and/or warm (over 100°F) areas.
• Work in a wet and humid environment.
• Wear hard hat, hearing/eye protection, and steel‑toed safety shoes.
• Operate in a noisy environment using PPE.
• Handle sanitation/cleaning chemicals.
• Work around strong smells/odors.
• Climb/move on ladders, steps, stairways, walkways and platforms.
• Bend, stoop and twist repetitively during the shift.
• Walk long distances.
• May require certification to operate certain equipment.

• At least 18 years of age.
• Willing and able to perform the physical demands listed above.

• Hourly competitive starting pay – $21.42 per hour.
• $0.25 per hour shift differential for 2nd shift positions.
