The Rendering Production Operator is responsible for safely operating rendering equipment and production systems to process raw materials into finished products. Team members help keep production running efficiently while meeting safety, quality, and customer requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Operate, monitor, and adjust rendering equipment and production systems to safely process raw materials into finished products.
- Receive, inspect, move, process, store, and load materials and finished products using conveyors, forklifts, loaders, and other plant equipment.
- Monitor product quality, production flow, and equipment performance; make adjustments as needed and report any issues to supervision.
- Complete routine inspections, basic maintenance tasks, housekeeping duties, and production paperwork to keep the operation running safely and efficiently.
- Learn and perform multiple jobs throughout the facility and assist wherever needed to support production goals and customer requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management to support production, safety, quality, and operational needs.
At least 6 continuous months of work experience within the last 2 years in manufacturing, industrial, construction, landscaping, farming, or other hands-on labor positions.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Ability to work safely around moving equipment, machinery, and production processes.
- Basic mechanical skills and the ability to learn and operate production equipment.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work as part of a team and communicate with supervisors and coworkers.
- Ability to identify and report equipment, safety, or quality concerns.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain Powered Industrial Truck (PIT)/forklift certification.
- Must be willing to work in a fast-paced production environment, including overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including regularly lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
- Must be committed to workplace safety, food safety, quality standards, and attendance expectations.
- 12-hour night shifts: 8:00 PM – 8:00 AM.
- Employees are assigned to either 2nd Shift or 4th Shift.
- Schedules rotate every 8 weeks.
- Example:
- 2nd Shift: Sunday – Wednesday (8:00 PM – 8:00 AM)
- 4th Shift: Thursday – Sunday (8:00 PM – 8:00 AM)
- After 8 Weeks:
- 2nd Shift: Thursday – Sunday (8:00 PM – 8:00 AM)
- 4th Shift: Sunday – Wednesday (8:00 PM – 8:00 AM)
- 2nd Shift and 4th Shift work opposite schedules and rotate every 8 weeks.
- Sunday is a regularly scheduled workday for Production Operators. Tyson will consider reasonable accommodations as required by applicable law.
Industrial rendering facility with exposure to heat, cold, noise, odors, moving equipment, and outdoor weather conditions. Team members must be able to stand, walk, lift, climb, bend, and perform physical work for extended periods of time.
