Required Qualifications
  • One year of recent experience as a Stepdown RN
  • Current valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
  • Current BLS Certification (AHA/ARC)
  • Current ACLS Certification (AHA/ARC)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN) Certification
  • NIHSS Certification
  • Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position
Essential Work Functions
  • Monitors and interprets cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and other telemetry data to detect abnormalities and respond appropriately
  • Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, with a focus on cardiac care
  • Prepares equipment and aids physician during cardiac‑related procedures and examinations
  • Makes patients aware of their comfort and safety needs while on telemetry
  • Observes patients, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor or physician of patient’s cardiac status and response to interventions
  • Responds to life‑saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocols specific to cardiac emergencies
  • Documents nursing history and physical assessment for assigned telemetry patients
  • Initiates patient education plans according to individualized needs, focusing on cardiac health, risk factors, and lifestyle modifications
  • Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care for telemetry patients
  • Maintains confidentiality of patients and client information
  • Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of practice
  • Adheres to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
Required Essential Skills
  • Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficient in spoken and written English
  • Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions, with PC proficiency
  • Physical Abilities – Must remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50–100 lbs), push, pull, and bend
  • Interpersonal Skills – Must work effectively with a variety of personnel, maintaining a positive attitude and professionalism
  • Technical/Motor Skills – Must grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment
  • Mental Requirements – Must cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure, working under close supervision occasionally, or without assistance, and handle irregular activity schedules with continuous concentration to detail
  • Sensory – Must possess visual acuity and ability to effectively communicate
