Job Title:Registered Nurse (RN) – GI Lab
Department: 703F GI Lab
Location: 1200 Northside Forsyth Drive, Cumming, GA 30041
Schedule: Day Shift – 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM
Shift Pattern: 4x10s, Monday–Friday
Hours: 40 Hours per Week
- Weekend call only
- Approximately 2 weekends and 4–5 night call shifts within an 8–9 week rotation schedule
- Minimum 2 years of recent GI Lab or procedural nursing experience
- Current AHA BLS Certification required
- Current ACLS Certification required
- No local candidates within 50 miles of the facility
The GI Lab performs a wide variety of gastrointestinal and pulmonary interventional procedures in a fast-paced procedural setting.
Procedures Performed- Bronchoscopies
- Feeding tube placements
- Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)
- Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS)
- GI bleed interventions
- Navigational Bronchoscopy
- Variceal banding
- Bravo pH monitoring/manometry
The GI Lab Registered Nurse provides specialized nursing care for patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic gastrointestinal and pulmonary procedures. Responsibilities include patient assessment, procedural support, sedation monitoring, recovery care, and patient education while ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities- Assess and prepare patients for GI and pulmonary procedures
- Assist physicians during diagnostic and interventional procedures
- Monitor patients receiving moderate sedation and evaluate responses throughout procedures
- Provide post-procedure recovery care and patient education
- Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and facility protocols
- Respond to emergency situations and complications during procedures
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with regulatory standards
- Collaborate with physicians, anesthesia providers, and multidisciplinary team members
- Minimum 2 years of recent GI Lab, Endoscopy, Procedural, or Critical Care nursing experience
- Strong knowledge of procedural sedation and patient monitoring
- Experience with advanced GI and pulmonary procedures preferred
- Excellent assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills
- 40 hours per week
- Weekend and night call rotation required
- Local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible for this assignment.
