Acute Inpatient Registered Nurse, RN – Dialysis

• Provide and coordinate clinically competent care for assigned inpatient dialysis patients
• Assess, plan, intervene, evaluate, and document patient care before, during, and after treatment
• Delegate appropriate tasks to RNs, LVN/LPNs, and Patient Care Technicians
• Adjust treatment plans and notify supervisors, physicians, and primary nurses as indicated
• Assess and provide patient and family education
• Recognize changes in patient status and collaborate with health team members
• Direct and provide safe patient care for modality-specific treatment procedures
• Coordinate with dialysis providers and contracted facility personnel to ensure continuity of care
• Implement, administer, monitor, and document intradialytic transfusions and adverse reactions
• Administer medications and document medical justification and effectiveness
• Initiate and assist with emergency response measures
• Serve as a resource for the healthcare team and participate in staff training and orientation
• Provide specialized nursing care instruction to hospital/facility staff as assigned
• Assist in an outpatient facility as needed
• Complete CAP requirements for advancement
• Participate in quality improvement, decision-making, teaching, and leadership activities
• Perform other duties assigned by the Supervisor

• Current appropriate state licensure
• Current or successful completion of CPR BLS Certification
• Must meet the practice requirements in all states employed
• Minimum 9 months experience as a Registered Nurse
• 6 months acute dialysis experience
• Entry level for RNs with less than 1 year of Nephrology Nursing experience in the last two years as an RN
• Hemodialysis and/or ICU experience preferred
• Ability to perform heavy lifting, move patients, and assist with ambulation
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods and bend over
• Ability to move machines and equipment up to 200 lbs. with assistance
• Ability to lift chemical and water solutions up to 30 lbs. as high as 5 feet
• Ability to travel to training/meeting sites and between assigned facilities
• Participation in on-call rotation, night, weekend, and holiday work as required
• Successful completion of FKC education and modality-specific training requirements for new employees required for designated Nurse in Charge oversight

Demonstrates expertise in providing clinically competent care for dialysis patients, including assessment, planning, and implementation of treatment plans. Proficient in patient education, emergency response, and collaboration with healthcare teams to ensure continuity of care.
