Summary
A reputable commercial general contractor is seeking aProject Engineer experienced in healthcare construction to support ongoing hospital, medical office, and clinical facility projects. This role plays a key part in managing documentation, coordinating trades, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and standards. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background, excellent communication skills, and thrives in fast-paced, sensitive environments where safety and precision are top priorities.
Key Responsibilities- Support Project Managers and Superintendents through all phases of healthcare construction, from preconstruction to closeout
- Maintain project documentation including RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, change orders, and procurement logs
- Coordinate with architects, consultants, healthcare owners, and subcontractors to ensure design intent is executed correctly
- Track materials, equipment deliveries, and long-lead items to maintain schedules
- Monitor and enforce compliance with healthcare-specific codes and procedures (ICRA, OSHPD/HCAI, HIPAA)
- Assist with project scheduling and daily task tracking
- Prepare closeout documentation including as-builts, O&M manuals, and warranty packages
- Attend site meetings and field walks to document progress and follow up on action items
- Promote safety, cleanliness, and infection control within active healthcare environments
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field
- 2–5 years of experience as a Project Engineer or Assistant Project Manager in healthcare or institutional construction
- Strong understanding of ICRA, OSHPD/HCAI, HIPAA, and healthcare construction requirements
- Ability to interpret plans, specifications, and construction documents
- Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Project
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple priorities
- Experience working in active hospital or medical office settings
- Familiarity with MEP coordination (med gas, HVAC zoning, plumbing systems)
- Ability to coordinate with clinical staff and facility administrators during construction
