Make a meaningful impact by supporting students as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in an educational setting near Cupertino, CA. This is a full-time, on-site contract position for the  school year. You'll have the opportunity to empower students with visual impairments, guiding them toward achieving academic success and greater independence.

Desired qualifications and background:

  • Valid California credential for teaching students with visual impairments, or eligibility to obtain
  • Previous experience as a Visually Impaired Teacher (preferred but not required)
  • Strong advocacy skills for students educational and accessibility needs
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities for collaboration with staff, families, and students
  • Ability to adapt instructional materials and techniques to meet a variety of learning needs
  • Dedication to creating a supportive, inclusive learning environment

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Assess students functional vision and learning needs
  • Develop and adapt lesson plans and instructional materials
  • Offer consultative support and professional guidance to classroom teachers and staff
  • Foster students independent living, orientation and mobility, and self-advocacy skills
  • Collaborate with families and interdisciplinary teams to ensure each childs educational objectives are met
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation for student progress and required reports

Compensation for this position ranges from $36.37 to $66.37. Eligible candidates may also receive healthcare benefits, housing, and meals/incidentals.
