About This RoleAs a driving instructor, you will be responsible for educating and advising students while teaching them the fundamentals of operating a car behind the wheel. You will work in a company-provided vehicle and have the opportunity to obtain a state-required driving instructor certification through a paid training program.
- Use a Coastline car for all lessons, which are recorded with a dashboard camera for safety.
- Handle a demand schedule that is mostly in the afternoons and weekends; a typical day may consist of three two-hour lessons.
- Obtain and maintain state licensing with the support of our training team.
- 60 total hours of training: 40 hours of home reading and modules and 20 hours of behind-the-wheel in-car training.
- Shadow three in-car lessons and complete 12 hours of training with a Certified Trainer.
- Teach practical skills related to all aspects of driving.
- Provide instruction on the rules of the road.
- Help students develop confidence in their driving skills.
- Maintain control of the vehicle during emergency situations.
- Document and report on students’ progress.
- Maintain timely communication with supervisors and support teams.
- Maintain professionalism with students and fellow team members.
- Attend team meetings for updates and ongoing development.
- Genuine passion for helping people learn.
- Ability to remain calm in a learning environment.
- Valid State Driver’s License in the state where you wish to work.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Pass a background check, drug screen, and reference check.
- Minimum of 10 years of legal driving experience.
- Strong safety mindset and strong reasoning ability.
- Clear instruction, coaching, and effective communication skills.
- Ability to focus for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time in a vehicle.
- Must be able to see and hear during all weather conditions.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, touch, and feel.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
