At Apple, new ideas have a way of becoming extraordinary products, services, and customer experiences. Bring passion and dedication to your work and there's no telling what you can accomplish.
Join Apple's Battery Engineering team as a Hardware Manager for Battery Management Systems (BMS) where you will lead and develop a sizable team of BMS hardware engineering managers and their engineers, focusing your time on strategic leadership, cross-functional orchestration, and organizational capability building while maintaining technical credibility through selective deep engagement.
We are looking for an experienced senior leader who can guide teams through revolutionary technological changes, build effective cross-functional collaboration, synthesize and deliver an advance battery roadmap, and influence continuous improvement with vendor workflow while managing concurrent BMS hardware development for vast Apple's portfolio.
This manager will continuously transform the organization to scale capability and impact: leveraging AI and advanced tooling, building strategic vendor partnerships that extend our simulation and analysis capacity, identifying and closing talent gaps to deepen engineering rigor, leverage innovation to efficiently determine root cause and apply learnings across the organization, and influencing component suppliers to improve their design and validation methodologies for custom variations of catalog parts.
Responsibilities- Lead, mentor, and grow a talented team of BMS hardware managers with teams of engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, technical excellence, and deep engineering rigor.
- Drive the development of state-of-the-art BMS hardware, from initial concept through to high-volume manufacturing across Apple’s vast product lineup.
- Champion and implement advanced simulation, design, and test methodologies to improve engineering rigor and product quality.
- Build internal simulation and modeling capability to address vendor model quality gaps, establishing corner-case and Monte Carlo analysis as standard practice.
- Architect collaborative workflows that seamlessly integrate with mechanical, software, system, and product design teams as well supply and manufacturing vendors.
- Manage strategic partnerships with in-region vendors and engineering teams to streamline the later stages of the design process, enabling your team to focus on core innovation.
- Be a key member of the leadership team, shaping the future of battery systems with advanced electronic, mechanical, and thermal architectures.
- Exercise direct authority over our vendor engagement for hardware components, including veto power on supplier selection.
- Manage semi-custom and modified catalog parts through the technical lifecycle. This includes driving rigorous requirements, validating designs through simulation, and enforcing a strict build-and-test discipline to ensure all components meet our exacting standards.
