Laser Diode Design Engineer

Overview

We are a rapidly growing start-up company funded by Silicon Valley angel investors. Our focus is optoelectronic device and semiconductor manufacturing, specialized in data-center applications. Our team consists of the industry’s most innovative technologists and advisory members in the business of optoelectronic device design, production, packaging, and applications.

• Design and develop epi structures of DFB lasers to achieve highest performances in terms of optical power, efficiency, wavelength stability, beam angle, modulation speed reliability, etc.
• Data analysis to build correlation between performance and designs.
• Failure analysis of issues affecting functionality and performance.
• Work closely with internal and external epitaxial engineer, integration engineer, packaging/testing for product development and quality improvement.
• Limited travel

• Ph.D degree in EE, materials, optics, physics related to semiconductor lasers industry experience required.
• 2+ yeas of experience required
• Hands-on design experience of DFB or other laser diodes is required. GaAs- or InP-based DFB laser experience is a plus.
• Experience in wafer processing, packaging/testing, epitaxial characterization, reliability and failure analysis is preferred.
• In-depth knowledge in laser diode physics and modeling.
• Track record of successful laser diode development.
• Self-motivated, trustworthy, team player and dependable.
