Job Description
  • Conduct mechanical testing of materials (brittles, metals, adhesives etc.) using a Universal Testing Machine (UTM) and Dynamic Mechanical Analysis tester (DMA). Tests include:
    • Flexural/bending, compression/tensile, impact, fracture tests
  • Prepare specimens to required geometries and surface finishes.
  • Perform hands‑on assembly, disassembly and make experimental modifications to intricate hardware; troubleshoot failed tests.
  • Operate optical, digital, laser, confocal microscopes to:
    • Image samples, characterize fracture surfaces and micro‑structural features.
  • Ensure imaging and test compliance to relevant ASTM/ISO test standards for material evaluation.
  • Record, process and report test data with traceable documentation.
  • Adhere to lab safety protocols; ensure compliance within lab to all regulations and good housekeeping practices.
Skills
  • 1‑year minimum related experience required.
  • Working experience of materials testing using universal testing machines (UTMs) and dynamic mechanical analysis testers (DMA).
  • Working experience with optical, digital, laser microscopes (Keyence microscopes etc.).
  • Knowledge of safety protocols for handling fractured material samples including brittle and sharp fractured specimens.
  • Excellent ability to perform hands‑on assembly, disassembly and make experimental modifications to intricate hardware.
  • Motivated, meticulous and results driven; self‑driven to manage development activities in an R&D lab setting to meet team objectives and schedules.
  • Strong digital literacy (Mac, Excel/Numbers, Keynote etc.).
Education
  • AS or BS degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering Technology or equivalent industry experience.
