The RoleWe are looking for a Senior QA Automation Engineer to join our team onsite in Cupertino. This is not a traditional "test-at-the-end" role; we are looking for a Subject Matter Expert (SME) who champions a Shift‑Left testing philosophy. As a senior member of the team, you will be deeply embedded in the Agile SDLC, collaborating with Product Owners and Developers from the requirement phase to ensure quality is baked into the design.
You will take ownership of complex features, manage your own deadlines, and contribute to the overall system design. Your mission is to move beyond manual validation by building sophisticated automation suites for web, mobile, and backend systems, acting as a technical mentor to foster a culture of collective quality responsibility.
- Shift‑Left Strategy & SME Ownership:
Act as the product SME, participating in refinement sessions to define Acceptance Criteria and identify edge cases before a single line of code is written. - Full‑Stack Automation:
Design and maintain scalable automation frameworks for Web and Mobile applications, primarily using Python. - Backend & API Excellence:
Architect robust testing strategies for backend systems using Postman, Graph
QL, and automated JSON schema validation. - CI/CD Integration & Reporting:
Ownership of the continuous testing pipeline, ensuring automated suites provide immediate feedback and high‑visibility reporting to stakeholders.

Proven ability to lead quality for entire features or projects with minimal supervision and a strong "system‑design" mindset. - Core
Languages:
Advanced proficiency in Python. - Automation Ecosystem:
Expert‑level experience with Playwright. Solid understanding of Postman for API testing. - Shift‑Left
Experience:
Demonstrated experience in fast‑paced Agile environments where QA leads the quality conversation during the planning phase. - Backend Savvy:
Deep understanding of how to test complex backend architectures, including Graph
QL and RESTful services. - Communication:
Ability to influence technical decisions and mentor peers effectively.

Advanced proficiency in Type Script and JavaScript. - Legacy Frameworks:
Experience with Selenium for supporting or migrating existing suites. - Hardware Interaction:
Familiarity with testing software that interacts with physical devices or specialized hardware prototypes. - Performance Testing:
Experience with tools like k6 or JMeter to identify system bottlenecks.
- Location:
Onsite in Cupertino, CA (3 days per week). - Collaboration:
High‑touch interaction with Engineering and Product teams.
Monks has provided a compensation range that represents our good faith estimate of what we may pay for this position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on job‑related factors, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
Salary Range: $133,000 – $155,000 USD
