The iPhone Division is seeking a talented Analog & Power Systems Engineer to join a creative and collaborative engineering team developing next-generation iPhone products. This individual contributor role spans a broad set of analog disciplines — including power management subsystems, wired and wireless charging, and mixed‑signal function blocks such as audio, sensors, and signal interfaces. You will be at the focal point of many cross‑functional interactions with Apple’s internal hardware/software teams, contract manufacturer teams, and IC vendor teams across all stages of development.
We expect familiarity with portable, low‑power consumer electronics and a passion for building high‑quality, high‑volume products. Depending on your background, your focus may span power architecture and PMICs, charging systems and battery management, or analog/mixed‑signal circuit integration — or all three.
As an analog and power systems engineer, you are expected to bridge analog circuit design and system‑level architecture. This requires a solid understanding of mixed‑signal building blocks (op‑amps, filters, ADCs/DACs, output drivers), power conversion topologies (switching regulators, linear regulators, switched capacitors), charging systems (wired and wireless), and low‑power sensor interfaces. You should be comfortable addressing system‑level challenges including power sequencing, interference mitigation, PCB layout, thermal management, and digital interface design.
Responsibilities- Plan system and subsystem power/charging architecture, including IO trees, power policies, and charging strategies (wired and wireless)
- Draft and review IC datasheets and specifications; distill system requirements into IC definitions
- Conduct IC design reviews and manage bug tracking throughout the full design cycle
- Drive and participate in system‑level discussions on power management, charging, battery management, and analog subsystem integration
- Participate in IP development, schematic, and layout reviews
- Lead or assist in prototype bring‑up, hardware demonstration, and lab debugging
- Perform bench verification of functional and parametric characteristics, including automation scripting
- Conduct signal characterization across power, charging, and analog signal domains
- Provide production test support, manufacturing support, and field issue resolution
- BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- 3+ years of industry experience
- Strong EE fundamentals: power conversion, analog circuits (op‑amps, filters, ADCs/DACs), noise, linearity, and signal integrity in mixed‑signal systems
- Hands‑on experience with lab equipment (oscilloscope, power analyzer, digital meter, etc.) and circuit prototyping, characterization, and debugging
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Power management: SMPS, linear regulators, PMIC, system power architecture, camera flash/laser drivers
- Charging systems: wired/wireless charging, high‑efficiency DC‑DC converters, battery management (gas gauge, BMU, charger ICs)
- Analog/mixed‑signal: low‑power sensors and sensor interfaces, audio analog circuits, mixed‑signal subsystem integration
- Experience collaborating across hardware, software, mechanical, and thermal engineering disciplines
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and drive complex tasks to completion
- Effective presentation skills and comfort working with IC vendors and contract manufacturers
- MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Base pay range: $147,400 - $272,100, dependent on skills, qualifications, experience, and location
- Apple employee stock options and employee stock purchase plan participation, including discretionary restricted stock unit awards, stock at discount, and other equity benefits
- Health, vision, and dental coverage, retirement benefits, discounted products and free services, and reimbursement for certain educational expenses, including tuition
- Possibility of discretionary bonuses, commission payments, relocation support
- Additional benefits subject to eligibility requirements and terms of applicable plans or programs.
