About the Role
AWS Hardware Engineering is a leading-edge product development team that creates enterprise compute and storage server designs for our innovative web service and e-commerce technology platforms. Our designs are industry-leading in terms of performance, frugality, and operational excellence, and are critical to the success of AWS and the hundreds of thousands of customers who use utility computing today. We are seeking experienced Thermal/Mechanical Engineers to build the next generation of our cloud platforms.
Key Responsibilities- Perform mechanical and thermal design and development for complex electronic systems
- Design and validate systems and subsystems to meet program objectives
- Participate in the cross-discipline design process working with other HW and SW team members to develop optimized integrated solutions
- Conduct failure analysis and solution validation for product development and fleet systems
- Manage interaction with overseas resources
- Provide mentorship and technical reviews to a team of mechanical/thermal design engineers
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
- 7 years experience in thermal and mechanical design of server technologies or equivalent technology
- Master's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
- 9 years experience in thermal and mechanical design of server technologies or equivalent technology
- Experience with the project management of technical projects
- Experience with thermal analysis tools such as CFD (e.g., Flotherm, ANSYS Icepak, or similar)
- Proficiency with 3D CAD tools (e.g., Solid Works, Creo/ProE)
- Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production
- Experience in systems integration of complex server products
