Sensing Hardware Test - Electrical Engineer

Sensing technology empowers Apple products with revolutionary features, such as Touch , Face Camera Control Button. The Sensing Hardware Test team is responsible for the research, design and development of various metrology solutions, from technology characterisation in the laboratory to mass production manufacturing. This team seeks an engineer with a deep understanding of the physics behind sensing hardware and electrical engineering principles, who will explore the latest sensing technology and deploy novel test infrastructure for the mass production of next Apple product.
Description- Work with multi‑functional teams to define the test methodology for various sensing hardware.
- Author test engineering requirement documents for sensor technology.
- Collaborate closely with multi‑functional teams to develop test solutions that are mechanically, electrically, and software integrated.
- Debug issues across the hardware‑software boundary and support on‑site system bring‑up at manufacturing sites.
- Work with both internal team and external vendors to optimise test system to meet Apple’s quality standard for high volume production.
- Deliver executive‑level summaries and presentations.
- Experience in electrical system development for hardware testing, instrumentation, or embedded systems and ability to develop complex algorithms for signal processing or control.
- Proficient in C/C++ and Python, with hands‑on experience triaging electrical systems.
- Strong understanding of common electronic instrumentation and communication protocols (e.g., DMMs, oscilloscope, UART, I2C, SPI, Ethernet).
- BS in a related field and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience.
- Familiarity with sensor technologies (e.g., Touch, Force, Actuation, Optics) and their testing challenges.
- Exposure to AI/ML frameworks (e.g., scikit‑learn, Tensor Flow, PyTorch) and deploying models in production.
- Experience designing robust, scalable test solutions for high‑throughput production environments.
- Proven ability to collaborate multi‑functionally with electrical, mechanical, and software teams.
- Occasional domestic and international travel to Apple and supplier facilities.
- Experience collaborating with external vendors to integrate test solutions.
- Background in instrumentation design, real‑time systems, or test automation platforms.
- MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics, or a related field.
The base pay range for this role is between $147,400 and $272,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
