Our team is a diverse and nimble group that manages Apple’s retail stores, workplaces, and workplace services. We develop and manage Apple’s global real estate portfolio, lead all related capital construction projects, provide outstanding facilities and site services, develop and lead sustainability initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of all Apple facilities, including commute and renewable energy programs, and do everything we can to ensure the health and safety of all Apple personnel, facilities, and customers in our facilities around the world.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Building Automation Specialist role. Our primary responsibility as a team is to ensure the local (SCV) corporate portfolio is operating at the highest levels of occupant comfort while maintaining critical environments without compromising efficiency. This role directly contributes to a sustainable, comfortable, and productive work environment for Apple employees. Our team works closely with a diverse group of partners including facilities managers, project managers, EH&S, and service providers.

As a Building Automation Specialist on our Facilities Operations Center (FOC) team, you will be responsible for the real‑time identification and triage of system alarms, dispatching service technicians, and escalating complex faults to the extended support teams to ensure seamless operation of our facilities.
This critical role ensures operational uptime and contributes directly to maintaining a safe, comfortable, and energy‑efficient environment for all Apple employees. As our first line of defense, you will help take decisive action to resolve issues remotely using approved operator tools, and when unable to, create high‑quality, actionable work tickets with clear documentation of steps already taken to ensure the correct engineering or field team can resolve the problem efficiently.
You will also work collaboratively with the Facility Service Center (FSC), our BAS Engineers, maintenance technicians, project managers, and external vendors to resolve system issues promptly and maintain optimal building performance.
- Monitor the real‑time performance and health of all building automation systems (BAS) across the portfolio, identifying potential failures, assessing priority, and dispatching vendor support as needed for resolution as part of the overall BAS alarm response lifecycle.
- You will oversee and respond to service requests by providing clear documentation of troubleshooting steps already taken and dispatch the correct engineering or field team who can resolve the problem efficiently.
- Maintain operational discipline and data integrity across the 24/7 coverage for the FOC team by accurately documenting all system events, alarm responses, and issue resolutions in our ticketing systems and team pass‑downs.
- Create and distribute daily reports and support FOC procedures, such as equipment alarm reports, temporary system overrides or schedule adjustments, to support building monitoring oversight, along with events and maintenance activities.
- Communicate clear and concise summaries of system status, ongoing incidents, and operational impacts to engineers and leadership.
- Foster and maintain excellent working relationships with field technicians, service vendors, and Facilities Business Managers (FBMs).
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
