A globally leading technology company is looking for a Battery Thermal Engineer to join its innovative Battery Product Development team. In this role, you'll drive the thermal FEA modeling for next-generation products, working closely with world-class teams from the earliest design stages. You'll collaborate with Product Design, Operations, and Reliability teams to develop advanced battery systems that set new standards in performance and efficiency.

Job Responsibilities:

• Develop of state of art Thermal as well as multi-physics finite element (FE) models of cell, pack, and BMS sub-systems.
• Provide deign and trade-off guidance to the PD teams through early stage simulations, particularly in cases such as fast charging and high power functions.
• Generate models/capability to convert power map into thermal outputs.
• Perform advanced ThermalCAE simulations to evaluate and enhance understanding of the various boundary conditions at the cell, pack, BMS sub-systems around battery packs well as in system.
• Supporting design progression and evolution with multi-disciplinary engineering teams based on your analyses
• Work with design teams and cross-functional teams, to understand CAE analysis requirements and clearly identify the related goals, scope and functionality limitations.
• Use best in class tools and solvers to generate the necessary simulation models and results.
• Work with test and reliability labs, to develop physical test methods, to gather necessary data for results validation.
• Work with system teams, to collaborate on developing detailed sub-models to be used in assembly level simulations.
• Develop optimized workflows and/or reusable templates for regularly required thermal FEA simulations.
• Develop and implement best practices.
• Work with CAE vendors to drive the functionality improvements to better serve the CAE needs of the group.
• Explore new analysis types and solutions, including topological optimization

Minimum Qualifications:

• PhD is required + 3 yrs industry experience
• Mechanical or electrical engineering background with strong foundation in thermal simulations field.
• Experience in transient thermal simulations of assemblies
• Experience in electronic heating and cooling and CFD
• Familiarity with multi-physics coupled modeling, integrating mechanical, thermal and electrochemical behaviors.
• Expert level skillset related to Ansys electronic desktop, including HFSS and Ice Pak.
• Familiarity with NX, Comsol, Cadence

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in Opti Slang or iSight or similar software
• Experience in Allegro and electronics layout design
• Familiarity with li-ion cells and battery packs
• Experience in defining and leading technical development roadmap
• Experience in managing project teams
• Python and other scripting languages

Duration: 12 months

Pay range: $ 52.00 - $ 67.00 (DOE)
