Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Battery Thermal Engineer to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing advanced thermal and multiphysics simulation models for battery systems, including cells, battery packs, and Battery Management System (BMS) components. This role involves conducting thermal and CFD analyses, developing simulation workflows, and supporting the design and optimization of next‑generation battery technologies.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Develop advanced thermal and multiphysics finite element/finite volume models for battery cells, battery packs, and BMS subsystems.
  • Create simulation capabilities to translate power maps into thermal performance predictions.
  • Perform thermal and CFD simulations to evaluate battery performance under various operating and environmental conditions.
  • Analyze heat transfer, cooling strategies, and thermal behavior to improve battery system performance and reliability.
  • Utilize industry-standard simulation tools to develop accurate thermal models and generate engineering insights.
  • Develop reusable simulation templates, automated workflows, and best practices for thermal analysis.
  • Extract Reduced Order Models (ROMs) from CFD simulations to support rapid design evaluations.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams to support product development and design optimization.
  • Work with software and CAE tool vendors to enhance modeling capabilities and improve simulation workflows.
  • Investigate and implement new simulation methodologies, including topology optimization and advanced thermal analysis techniques.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of industry experience in thermal engineering, CFD, or battery thermal analysis.
  • Strong background in heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and thermal modeling.
  • Expert-level proficiency with Ansys Electronics Desktop (AEDT) and Icepak.
  • Experience with Python or other scripting languages for simulation automation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Experience with lithium‑ion cell and battery pack thermal modeling.
  • Familiarity with electronics cooling methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Cadence Allegro and electronics layout design.
  • Experience using NX and COMSOL Multiphysics.
  • Experience developing automated simulation workflows and optimization processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to communicate technical findings effectively.
