DFM PCBA Engineer

- Leading root cause and failure analysis investigations
- Use internal LLM based tools for automating workflows
Responsibilities include:
- Drive PCBA and related system design decisions
- Develop, champion, and apply internal guidelines and best practices
- Conduct rigorous DFM reviews of rigid and flexible PCBA and custom component designs
- Design and optimize PCBA manufacturing processes
- Collaborate strategically with design engineers, manufacturing partners, and material suppliers
- Innovate and develop new manufacturing processes, tooling, and automation solutions
- Establish and refine design rules and formulas
- Partner with eCAD Librarians to review and validate component land patterns
- Plan and execute Design of Experiments (DOEs) and test builds
- Assess and verify PCB assembly vendor technical capabilities
- Develop and maintain comprehensive checklists
- Define and implement robust methodologies for workmanship, maintenance, and data retention requirements
- Communicate complex technical information fluidly and effectively
Minimum qualifications include:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in an engineering discipline
- 3+ years of relevant experience in PCBA, electronic assembly or related field
- Demonstrated high level of creativity and intellectual curiosity
- Robust understanding of engineering fundamentals
- Proven ability to self-manage projects
- Ability and willingness to travel internationally up to 25%
Preferred qualifications include:
- Familiarity with various advanced soldering methods
- Deep understanding of PCBA material selection considerations
- Knowledge of PCB Fabrication, Flexible PCB Fabrication, and First-Level Interconnect (FLI) Si Packaging processes
- Experience with common PCBA inspection and test techniques
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards
- Proficiency with statistical process control and data analysis software
- Ability to leverage programming and scripting for problem-solving
- Experience with data visualization tools
Pay and benefits include:
Base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $144,600 and $263,800, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.
