Apple is seeking a Photonics Design Engineer to develop novel integrated photonic devices that enable breakthrough sensing applications. You will work within an optical science team and collaborate with a multidisciplinary group to demonstrate new photonic components and sensor concepts.

• Design, simulate, and characterize silicon photonic components to enable next‑generation photonic integrated circuits.
• Collaborate across teams to develop and refine photonic component and sensor concepts.
• Conduct optical measurements and device characterization.

• Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Optics, Electrical Engineering or equivalent fields.
• Experience with simulation and modeling of photonic components.

• 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Master’s or PhD degree in Physics, Optics, Electrical Engineering or equivalent fields.
• Deep understanding of optoelectronics, photonics, and semiconductor devices.
• Extensive design and modeling experience of passive and active components on SOI platforms.
• Experience in circuit simulation, high‑order mode mitigation or polarization management.
• Good understanding of optical measurement techniques and hands‑on experience in device characterization.
• Strong programming skills and proficiency in statistical data analysis in Python, Matlab, JMP or similar.

Base pay range: $150,400 to $225,300. Additional benefits may include stock options, performance bonuses, and relocation assistance.
