The Director of Mortgage Operations is a full-time role responsible for overseeing end-to-end mortgage operational workflows, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and high-quality service delivery. Beyond managing daily loan processing activities, pipeline monitoring, and closing timelines, this role plays a key strategic part in designing mortgage products—including structuring loan selling channels, onboarding wholesale lenders, and establishing key capital source relationships.
The Director will leverage deep mortgage market expertise to partner closely with the marketing team, analyzing industry trends to decide which products to actively promote. Working cross-functionally with underwriting, sales, and funding teams, the Director will remove bottlenecks, refine operational policies, implement best practices, and use data to optimize capacity and mitigate risk. Additionally, they will lead, coach, and develop remote operations team members, manage vendor and technology utilization, and partner with executive leadership on budgeting and resource planning to support RateDNA’s growth.
Compensation
- Salary Range: $150,000 – $300,000 / year (depending on experience)
Qualifications
- Experience: 7+ years of experience in mortgage brokerage or mortgage operations (private money, broker, or retail environments), with extensive knowledge of conventional and non-QM products.
- Product Design: Proven track record in designing mortgage products, securing capital sources, structuring loan selling strategies, and signing up wholesale lenders.
- Market Insight & Marketing Strategy: Deep understanding of mortgage market trends with the ability to collaborate with marketing teams to select and position top-performing products.
- Operations Management: Strong skills in process optimization, workflow design, and policy implementation in a mortgage/lending context.
- Analytical Skills: Advanced ability to interpret operational data, performance metrics, and risk indicators to drive data-informed decisions.
- Team Leadership: Proven ability to manage, mentor, and develop diverse remote teams, with a focus on performance management and continuous improvement.
- Budgeting & Financial Management: Practical experience with resource planning, cost control, and operational financial forecasting.
- Regulatory Compliance: Solid understanding of state and federal compliance requirements governing mortgage brokerage and lending operations.
- Mortgage Tech & Workflow: Strong proficiency with mortgage technology platforms, Loan Origination Systems (LOS), and digital workflow tools.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
