Job Description & How to Apply Below
Corporate Finance Associate/Sr. Associate
The Role
We are looking for a Corporate Finance Associate/Sr Associate to join the team and help build the financial infrastructure that supports Gridmatic's growth. You will report to the Head of Finance and work directly with leadership on capital strategy, investor relations, and the financial planning that underpins our market operations.
This is a hands‑on, high‑ownership role. You will be building the models, preparing the materials, and having a direct impact on decision‑making.
What You'll Do
Corporate Modeling & Financial Planning- Build, maintain, and continuously improve the corporate financial model – covering P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and scenario analysis.
- Translate operational and market assumptions into financial projections that inform executive and board‑level decisions.
- Own the integrity of the model: version control, documentation, and systematic stress‑testing against market conditions.
- Support debt and equity fundraising processes end‑to‑end – from data room preparation and financial modeling to management presentation and term sheet review.
- Develop and maintain company collateral including pitch decks, investor memos, and one‑pagers that clearly communicate Gridmatic's differentiation and financial profile.
- Drive capital allocation analysis across business lines, helping prioritize investments in trading infrastructure, energy retail business expansion, and wholesale strategy.
- Prepare materials for internal capital reviews and strategic planning cycles, synthesizing quantitative analysis with clear narrative.
- Build frameworks to evaluate risk‑adjusted returns on deployed capital across diverse business lines.
- Manage and optimize the company's collateral posting obligations across counter parties and market operators – including ISOs, utilities, and banks.
- Track credit exposure, monitor margin requirements, and ensure adequate liquidity for day‑to‑day trading operations.
- Liaise with counter parties on credit documentation and support negotiations on collateral terms.
- Partner with leadership on long‑range strategic planning, including market entry analysis, competitive benchmarking, and business model evolution.
- Evaluate strategic opportunities such as partnerships, acquisitions, or new product lines using a rigorous financial and operational lens.
- Support leadership reporting with crisp, well‑structured analysis that distills complexity into clear recommendations.
What We're Looking For
- 3–6 years of experience in investment banking, corporate development, private equity, infrastructure finance, or a high‑growth company finance function.
- Expert‑level financial modeling skills – can build a three‑statement model from scratch and defend every assumption in it.
- Strong analytical skills. Can distill complex concepts into structured analysis.
- Familiarity with credit and collateral mechanics in financial markets; energy or commodity markets experience is a significant plus.
- Experience supporting or leading fundraising processes, including managing data rooms and interfacing with investors or lenders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. Can deliver well‑structured presentations and recommendations.
- Comfort with ambiguity and a bias toward action. We are not a process‑heavy organization; you will need to set your own structure.
- Quantitative background preferred. Python or SQL skills are useful but not required – we care more about clear thinking than specific tools.
Nice to Have
- Experience in energy, power markets, cleantech, or adjacent industries.
- Exposure to project finance, structured credit, or asset‑backed financing structures.
- Prior work in a small, fast‑moving company where you wore many hats.
- CFA charter holder or candidate.
- Continuing Education Opportunities
- Flexible PTO
- Medical, Dental and Vision plans with competitive employer contributions
- $1,500/year non‑profit donation matching program through Millie
- Home Office Stipend
- 401(k) contribution match up to 4%
- Company‑paid parental leave
- Company Paid Life Insurance
- Stock Option Loan Program
$140,000 - $170,000 USD
